Pressure-temperature charts for common refrigerants
Complete P/T charts for R-134a, R-404A, R-410A, R-449A, R-32, R-290, and other refrigerants used in HVAC-R in Quebec.
Pressure-temperature charts are the basic tool of every HVAC-R technician. They let you verify proper system operation by comparing measured pressure to expected temperature.
How to read a P/T chart
Pressure in a refrigeration system is directly tied to refrigerant temperature. By measuring pressure with your gauges, you can determine the refrigerant's saturation temperature at that point in the circuit.
Most common refrigerants in Quebec
R-134a (HFC)
Used in medium-temperature commercial refrigeration and automotive. GWP: 1430.
R-404A (HFC)
Very common in low-temperature commercial refrigeration. Being phased out due to its high GWP (3922).
R-449A (HFO)
Direct replacement for R-404A with reduced GWP (1397). Compatible with most existing systems.
R-410A (HFC)
Standard in residential and commercial air conditioning. GWP: 2088.
R-32 (HFC)
Next-generation refrigerant for air conditioning. Reduced GWP (675). Mildly flammable (A2L).
R-290 (Propane)
Natural refrigerant with very low GWP (3). Used in small commercial systems. Flammable (A3).
